Vestiaire-Collective

Curated online luxury resale is hitting its stride which comes as no surprise. Who has the time to trawl through pages of duff stuff before they get to the goodies? Vestiaire Collective cottoned onto this early, with its very French marketplace of heritage and high fashion accessories and collectable cult brands.

When I fancy indulging my habit for pre-worn Celine, Dinh Van and APC, I head to Vestiaire Collective first. Alongside vintage hero pieces are more recent gems and the beauty is that everything first passes by the eyes of one of the Vestiaire Collective buyers, meaning the chances of buying a fake are slimmer than a Louboutin cigarette heel. Also handy is the social element – each item can be commented on, so you can ask the sellers questions or just leave ‘OMG-loving-the-bag!’-type comments as part of its community conversation. There’s also a ‘Make Me An Offer’ tool, and an alert function that offers a more tailor-made experience.

As I said, the main appeal of Vestiaire Collective to me is its riches of classic French luxury brands. Right now that consists of a Louis Vuitton teddy-like gilet, Agnes B suede sweatshirt and Dinh Van bracelet. Here’s the rest of my self-gifting fantasy shopping list (remember, these are pre-worn pieces so once they’re gone, they’re gone)…

Also worth knowing is that from tomorrow, Vestiaire Collective will be holding a festive charity designer sale to mark the launch of its new partywear category. If you fancy owning a pre-worn piece donated by the likes of Sophie Dahl, Jade Parfitt and Gemma Arterton, go to Vestiaire Collective tomorrow to shop, happy in the knowledge that your money will go to a charity of the donor’s choice. Get in!
